Cannot fault the service provided by Compass Circle. Communication, set up and collection were fantastic from start to finish. The colour scheme was perfect as were the extras we requested such as projector. It was a bit of a luxury spend for us, but completely worth it!
The customer service element was brilliant throughout too - though clearly very busy, Andy made time to answer the persistent questions of our curious little 8 year old.
The tent itself was hired for our other daughter's 16th birthday and was a huge success. I would definitely recommend and will be considering Compass Circle for other events.

Absolutely amazing. We were camping in our garden to try and have a "holiday" in lockdown and it couldn't have been better. Even in the January cold and driving rain we were snug in our lovely bell tent!

We booked last minute , but they were fantastic in organising a surprise set up for my children. They arrived on time and collected promptly too . We had a fantastic couple of nights, in very comfortable beds which they also provided. Beautiful added extras of tables , lights and Bunting which made it a perfect set up . .... we didn’t get to go abroad but our staycation was made extra special by beau and bell tents . I fully recommend and we will 100% be booking another bell tent hire from these guys . Thank you xx

We were so happy with the service, the tents etc! They stood the test of a biblical rainstorm and they were bone dry after this!! The hen had a fantastic time.
We delivered next level parties for exceptional companies
We also did more than 40,000 birthday parties. Probably, including your neighbour’s recent big bash.
Bell Tents in Manchester: The No-Stress Buyer’s Guide
Looking for Bell Tents in Manchester for a party, after-prom, or a cosy cinema night in the garden? You’re in the right place. We’ve helped hundreds of local hosts turn lawns and village hall grounds into mini festivals, and we know exactly what works in the Manchester area. In this guide, we’ll cover the smart choices on sizes, layouts, themes, venues, pricing, weather plans, and all the little details that separate a decent set-up from a brilliant one. By the end, you’ll be ready to book with confidence and enjoy the calm before the party rather than the panic.
Why a bell tent suits Manchester events
Manchester does variety very well, and the bell tent format is a perfect match. The circular footprint makes it easy to style, the centre pole gives great headroom, and the natural cotton canvas creates that soft, flattering light you see in all the best party photos. Bell tents are quick to pitch, tidy to dismantle, and surprisingly adaptable for everything from a festival-themed birthday to a prom after-party. They’re also kinder to gardens than you’d think when planned properly, and they pack a lot of atmosphere into a compact space.
Sizes and capacities worth knowing
Bell tents are commonly 4 m, 5 m, or 6 m in diameter, with larger options available for sleepovers or lounge lounges. As a rough guide, and depending on furniture:
4 m works as a snug chill-out den for 6 to 8 seated on floor cushions.
5 m makes a lovely lounge for 10 to 15, or a sleepover for 4 to 6 with roll mats.
6 m feels generous for 15 to 20 seated on low seating, or 6 to 8 for sleepover layouts.
If you’re planning more of a flow-through party rather than a formal sit down, capacities can gently stretch because guests drift in and out.
Manchester price guide
For Bell Tents in Manchester you’ll typically see two common price windows. Lighter lounge or mid-week hires often sit around £160–£300. Weekend or fully styled packages with flooring, lighting, and furnishings usually land between £240–£400. Prices vary by date, delivery distance, and the level of styling, but those ranges will help you sanity-check quotes fast.
Event ideas that really land in the city
Manchester crowds appreciate personality and a bit of fun. These formats consistently delight:
Festival-themed birthdays with bunting, floor cushions, and a small Bluetooth speaker for daytime playlists.
Student society nights on sports club fields or campus-adjacent lawns, where the tent becomes the social hub.

Curated suppliers
All Poptop’s suppliers are rigorously vetted and approved by our team of party experts, ensuring you book the very best.
Prom after-parties for safe, supervised downtime once the dancing’s done.
Garden gigs with an acoustic corner or a tiny DJ nook, where the tent serves as the lounge and green room.
Keep the brief clear, and your supplier will style the interior to match the mood.
Where to pitch a bell tent
The right pitch makes everything easier. Around Manchester, these spaces are ideal:
Suburban lawns, as long as there’s a clear route from vehicle to grass and permission to stake into the ground.
Village hall grounds, a classic choice with toilets, parking, and power nearby.
Sports club fields, great for student nights or bigger youth parties with lots of space around the tent.
Venue lawns, perfect when you want a private chill-out or VIP corner to complement an indoor room.
If grass staking is restricted, ask about weighted solutions. Most bell tents prefer stakes, so confirm ground rules early.
Themes that suit the Manchester vibe
A good theme locks the styling together and saves budget, because every decorative choice has a job to do. These four themes work brilliantly:
Indie-festival with bunting, jute rugs, pallet tables, and a playlist that nods to Manchester’s music heritage.
Neon or LED lounge using low furniture, glow cubes, and fairy lights for a crisp, modern feel.
Rustic boho with rattan accents, soft throws, dried florals, and warm festoon lighting.
Cosy cinema tent with blackout touches, beanbags, a projector, and a snack station for a night-in that feels special.
Choose a main theme, then add one or two accent colours to keep things cohesive without over-decorating.
Add-ons that make a visible difference
Consider these small upgrades for a big step up in comfort and photos:
Groundsheet and matting to protect grass and keep feet dry.
Low seating, pouffes, and side tables to anchor the layout.
Warm string or festoon lighting for ambience and safer navigation after dark.
Compact heaters for spring and autumn nights, used with the correct safety clearances.
A projector and screen for the cinema theme, paired with a simple media stick.
Name boards, welcome signs, or a mini guestbook if you’re celebrating a milestone.
Tell suppliers what you already own. If you’ve got throws and cushions, they can style around them and trim costs.
Power, sound, and lighting basics
Most Manchester homes can spare one outdoor socket for lighting and a speaker. If your garden is distant from the house, discuss cable runs or a battery set-up. Keep sound friendly to neighbours with a modest Bluetooth speaker positioned at ear level inside the tent for clearer audio at lower volumes. For lighting, combine a warm central glow with perimeter fairy lights so the whole tent reads well in photos without harsh hotspots.
Weather planning the right way
Manchester is green for good reason. You’ll want a rain plan that doesn’t dominate the budget:
Check drainage and avoid the lowest part of the lawn. A slight slope is fine if the entrance faces downhill.
Confirm wind thresholds. Moderate wind is manageable, strong gusts might push you to reschedule or adjust layout.
Keep a towel kit, peg spares, and a spare welcome mat so the entrance stays neat if showers roll through.
If the forecast turns, ask your supplier about shifting the pitch or tightening guy lines. A quick tweak can make a big difference.
Access and logistics that save time
Clear access is half the battle. Note gate widths, the number of steps, and any slopes from van to lawn. Reserve a parking spot if your road gets busy. Share quiet hours expectations with your supplier so set-up and pack-down times don’t clash with neighbours or venue rules. If you’re using venue lawns or sports fields, confirm who unlocks the gates and when.
Safety and housekeeping details
Bell tents are straightforward, but safety still matters:
No open flames inside. Fire bowls live outside with safe clearances.
Heaters should be the correct type, used on stable ground with proper ventilation.
Keep guy lines visible after dark with small flags or solar markers to prevent trips.
If children are present, nominate an adult to own the tent rules for the evening.
A tidy tent is a safer tent. Provide a simple lidded bin and a basket for shoes to keep floors uncluttered.
How bell tents compare to other structures
If you’re still weighing options, here’s a quick way to think about it:
Bell tent, great for intimate lounges, soft aesthetics, fast set-up, and circular layouts with a central focal point.
Gazebo, useful when you need a practical rain cover, more square footage per pound, and less styling.
Stretch marquee, brilliant for bigger gatherings that need shade and flexible footprints with open sides.
Tipi, striking and tall, perfect for statement parties and larger groups with a bigger budget.
Yurt, cosy and insulated feel, often chosen for multi-day use or winter gatherings.
For Manchester gardens, a bell tent wins when you want instant atmosphere and a comfortable place to sit, chat, and take photos.
Bell tent layouts that work
Start with a clear entrance and a focal point opposite the door. Then build out seating from that anchor:
Lounge zone with low tables and floor cushions in a semicircle.
Photo corner with a chair, throw, and a simple backdrop frame.
Cinema zone with beanbags forward and a projector shelf at the back.
Sleepover ring with mats at the perimeter and a snack station in the centre.
Leave a neat walkway to the door. It’s better to edit three items out than squeeze one too many in.

Local tips we’ve learned the hard way
A few Manchester-specific habits save time and money:
If the garden holds water after rain, add matting to the package. It’s a small cost that keeps the lounge pristine.
For student society nights on sports fields, confirm floodlight schedules and gate access well in advance.
If your venue is strict about staking, ask early about weights or an alternative pitch area. Clear rules mean no last-minute compromises.
Keep a light jacket or blanket basket even in summer. Warm guests stay longer and enjoy themselves more.
